RiverLake Greenway: 50% Bikes 50% Cars
Well it would have been better if it was 100% bikes but it's still better than 50% SUVs and 50% drivers who think bikers should ride on the sidewalk. ...like it is where you live.

It definitely could be worse. Looking at the pics, the bike boulevard actually looks pretty cool. But "Sharrow"? Save the money you would spend on paint. That is just kinda lame.
yeah, its a little weak - I was excited when I heard it was a new "bicycle greenway," this isn't nearly what I'd envisioned, but it's a start. Have you been to the other side of 35W where the work's already been done between Harriet and 35? I checked it out last week, very much not impressed - from what I've gleaned the neighborhoods it went through fought to maintain car supremacy.
No, I haven't been to see it - I had planned to, but like you said; what I was picturing was was much closer to the Midtown GW - this is fairly disappointing.
...And like Sean said; looks like they'll need more paint brushes than bulldozers to get it done.
This "greenway" suddenly scares me more than inspires. This seems a bit like getting what we want too much. I bet with great lanes will come greater rule following at the "ped signals." People romanticize about riding in Amsterdam but I think it would suck if you needed to get somewhere quickly. On a much bigger scale cyclists in Amsterdam seem to have very similar privilege to this shared road but then also need to follow the rules strictly. One of my favorite things about urban riding is being ignored by other cars and cops unless you are holding things up.
Are they proposing a route that goes North/South on the East side of Hwy 35W?
No, East/West (click on the map for a close-up).
What I should have asked is if they are they considering a route that will go North/South in the future? I already knew the map was showing a route going East/West, just south of the current Greenway.
It's funny that you would ask that because when I met with the mayor last week, he said...
how the f*** would I know kozy?
I'm gonna be laughing about that one for a while.
I know you prefer not to discuss information regarding your "backdoor" rendezvous with the major, but maybe next time you could tap him for a little more information regarding a North/South route?
