Dublin Ireland and St. Paul Minnesota

Downtown St Paul MN Metal record shop just opened.  I wonder if they'll have the new Witchcraft double vinyl? - but two new guitarists?  not sure I want it anyway.  Gotta go there.

Northbound Smokehouse and Brewpub

I went to this Kickstarter success for the first time tonight, now about two months since opening day. This is a cool-people place - all hipsters and locals, and they did an excellent job rehabbing the building.  It's standing-room only any evening I drive by - very warm and inviting,  in fact they are looking to expand as demand has out-paced supply since day-one.  The food looked really good too.

I appear to be alone in my opinion that their flagship IPA "Big Jim" and its "American-hopped" style isn't very good.  I really wanted to like it,  I ordered it twice but found myself making faces at the strange flavors in my glass.  The Indeed Haywire (heavy double-IPA) also on tap, seemed a bright, bubbly palate cleanser by comparison.  I'll be back though,  hundreds of hipsters and locals can't be wrong.

Indeed brewery has the best tasting beer currently available in minneapolis - they absolutely do.  Imagine the best fresh creamy deep rich ipa you could ever drink and you've got it, except that they call it a pale ale.  You should stop by their tap room, ask for Day Tripper on cask, I can't think of a beer I'd rather be drinking.

Fun Saturday

The day began with a too early cycling start time that faded into an excellent beautiful ride.  Along the river, across the Mendota, along the river again, up through downtown St. Paul and then back down the hill to the MPLS greenway.  As we reclined in the back yard afterwords my rock star neighbor Bill stopped by with free tickets to see Doomtree at the Summit brewery - the fish tacos and pork tacos of his creation were both delicious, pork slightly better - shout out to Barrio.  See Dessa there in the front?  Missed Halloween Alaska who I would have really liked to see, but did watch DT from a reasonably close perspective, it was crowd-packed, concert-rules in effect,  freaking awesome local talent.
