I had brought the little money I had on the family travel north through Canada trip in the early 80's. Metal was my only interest.  Metal on metal then specifically..  Didn't want to buy a cheap tape to play immediately,  I wanted a vinyl album to clean and record to tape but there was no choice.  sorry edit please...

Edit:  I had never heard of them before stopping at the, gas station?  It had to be a gas station, when I saw the tape,  they were obviously metal. Had to have it. Then riding in the car Walkman blowing my mind.  I remember eventually feeling confused because they were mostly very heavy but they had songs about girls too.  I know their history of gaps after key albums but I believe that confusion is why they didn't succeed more.  But I love them for it.

So Motorcycle trip next weekend.  Thinking of going north to Spider Lake area again to practice,  then  maybe slightly north again to singletrack if the big bike will fit between the trees.  Then east through DulHut to MI.  Maybe Copper Harbor up to the top...  Then down again to CADVR 2018. God I hope it doesn't rain hard again that shit was nuts especially first time there.  I'd like to rip it up more!  Jared?  Next weekend?  Trip

Last Weekend Spider Lake with Steve

You don't stop to take pictures,  these four are the only scenes I have. Twice successfully flagging Steve not to ride away before I can stop,  gloves off, get the phone out...  Hmm, I just understood the point of my GPS's camera,  should try it... Camping is easy.  Riding is great,  and there is more nearby,  we ALL have to go.  500 mile weekend.

We explicitly did this as a reconnaissance ride,  to find the trails and assess them. We rode trails both days.  Now we know it all - no, but we know the theme and can maximize trail time.  With such great accommodations so easily near by.  Three days mid-week would be ideal,  but weekend ride works too.  Let's go!

Hockey tape Motorcycle Tire Bead Breaker

It's a leverage tool to force the rubber tire away from the metal rim of a motorcycle wheel on the ground.  Mounted with the far-end hardware at the base of my workbench.  I made the handle angle steep for lots of leverage.  Thanks Heath for the wood prototype.  Cost = 20 when you buy enough to make two. With hardware. Without hockey tape.  I wonder how it works.

Big Surf Done?

The Nomad is a great bar.  Two patio spaces and a great room.  West bank rules.  Big surf played middle and crushed both by far.  Super fun night with Steve and Sean and Jason.

Big Surf Steve Chris Phil.  Chris is moving far away.  It might be something again at some point  but it won't be Big Surf after fifteen years.  Next gig is last gig.
Next door last night

The key is the hard plastic grab handle on the saw itself,  I cut those slots with my grinder.  The band saw really cuts amazingly fast and precisely and I'm using the original HF blade still (Milwaukee at HD same price).  The saw doesn't have a trigger lock so I easily carved a piece of plywood to slide right in there.  When setting this up you want to make sure the blade is plumb and level,  took a couple tries.  Saw stores in its case on the shelf.  Diresta's is still better.

Michael Schenker Fest was awesome

One of my very favorite guitarists on tour with his original solo bassist and drummer and four of the six singers that span his nearly four decade career.  Yes,  four singers,  singing their signature songs and singing together on many others.  McAuley so smoothly and casually stepping into the stage light early to help Barden on the high part of Mad Axman - first appearance, well before his songs came up, then slipping off just as quietly.  Bonnet blowing me away with his vocal power at 71 years old.  White, the young gun in his 50s singing the "new" songs which I like very much.  It was like time traveling hearing That song, with the right voice,  and the right guitar,  the entire night.  They ended with five straight UFO classics.  Better than expected.

Being pursued by a fox apparently.  Last weekend dream ride between the mills.  Beautiful industrial.  Scare away rodents near where people work I think.
Full on old man mode now, Consumer Cellular seems like a good idea, no apologies, fuck you.  Last year I installed metal filter style gutter covers on my newly installed gutters, $100 Amazon,  saved 900 over gutter installer,  and he only sold full cover style anyway.  I overkilled it by adding corner-stops and sometimes the pine needles build up.  They build up anyway in the front.

Got a giant telescoping pole (Costco) and solid wood heavy duty scrub brush (Amazon) plus plywood scraps and an indescribable understanding of joinery equals this.
