National Motorcycle Museum, Anamosa Iowa

My biggest regret is that this is the first time I went there

I like the 1900 to 1920 bikes the best, like overbuilt bicycles with engines.  Hill-climbers above middle.  Track bikes on the wooden track.  The top bike was amazing in person (but I like the look of a well ridden bike best, on the top bike the saddle is old but the rest looks new) and in fact was estimated to sell for the most of all the bikes with a top of 250k.  And it's a replica

I visited there yesterday.  I was overwhelmed.  Incredible. 100-something amazing bikes in a relatively small space plus walls and cabinets of memorabilia, toys and awards and a display of 50 vintage engines... 600 miles from MPLS in two consecutive 8 hour days at 65 on the DR650 dual sport. Multiple detours.  Great river road most of the way.  They close forever after Labor Day.  Auctions take over next week. I wish I had gone sooner, to be returning this time.  I love motorcycles turns out.

The posters I wisely had shipped, arrived this weekend, one package flat, one rolled tube. 14 total. I wish I had bought more

A little deceptive, 300 miles each way, 600 total. Obviously, on a map I guess...

Then I bought the DVD and realized that I had missed most of the best bikes already. I mean, not really, the DVD bikes were mostly 30's 40's as I remember... Which are my second favorite bikes

but there were also a bunch more sweet track bikes, I mean, that one has no handlebars

Wouldn't it stand to reason that drummers were better motorcycle riders?

It was kind of quite a ride there and back too. Thank you DR650. Multiple unexpected detours. Sometimes riding old un-suggested gravel farm roads as shorter route short cuts. I feel fucking old most of the time these days. Riding 600 miles in two days from basically cold reminded me of why I love this shit

Deciding for a couple miles how I am going to pass that semi. Long ride either way so no rush
