It was fun to plan and execute this project, that's what I'd say at work at least. I did purchase a single new tool for this which is always a great reason for DIY. Compound miter saw STAND. I upgraded to a new DeWalt saw a couple years ago. The stand makes an amazing difference for a project like this of cutting long boards.

Just to be clear I write this for my children and Antiques Roadshow to be able to pinpoint that point in my life. I love you Kathleen Katie Mara Maeve always ever.

That left edge bracing is because the inner beam is the only one that connects to the header. The other floats in space. The finished product feels huge to stand on and I don't think the leverage of that piece makes any difference now or ever. That said why did I go past the walls? Should have lined up. Whatever old fucker, you do some work and tell me how it is.
